Discover accessible options for purchasing homes and vacant lots in Portage County.

Side Lot Program

This program allows property owners to bring unused adjacent lots into productive use by purchasing them at minimal cost. It’s a community-friendly way to help homeowners expand their yards or solve practical land use needs while strengthening the fabric of the neighborhood. Eligible lots must be contiguous and non-buildable, and they must also meet criteria set by the Land Bank to ensure the best fit.

Vacant Land Program

Individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and local governments can acquire select lots for new uses or creative projects. Each proposal is reviewed to ensure it complies with local zoning, supports responsible redevelopment, and benefits the surrounding neighborhood.

Open Market Real Estate Purchase Program

We offer our most marketable vacant lots and properties for sale to the public through a real estate agent, providing blank canvases for big ideas and new beginnings. These newly renovated houses and vacant land create homeownership and private investment opportunities that improve the quality of life for Portage County residents.

Welcome Home Ohio (WHO) Program

Administered by the Ohio Department of Development, this statewide initiative helps finance the purchase, renovation, or construction of homes to expand affordable homeownership opportunities in Portage County. Through strategic partnerships, the Land Bank works to increase the availability of quality, affordable housing for local residents.

Commercial Property Acquisition

Through this program, Portage County Land Bank turns vacant or underutilized commercial properties into opportunities for new businesses and vibrant economic activity. Due to the variety in size, use, and potential of commercial properties, each project is reviewed by PCLB’s Board of Directors on a case-by-case basis. Interested parties work with the Executive Director to ensure the best fit for the community.
