Exterior of a neglected ranch-style house with peeling cream siding, a rusted red garage door, and overgrown weeds. Renovated ranch house with blue siding, a new white garage door, a fresh wooden porch, and professional landscaping. A dark, flooded basement with standing water on the floor, rusty support beams, and debris scattered throughout. A clean, dry basement with a new concrete floor, white painted walls, updated HVAC system, and bright overhead lighting.

The Land Bank’s residential revitalization efforts continue to aim to help alleviate a problem that many real estate professionals and economists agree on — that there is a lack of adequate supply of affordable housing to meet the demand in the current housing market. Many of the rehabilitations that the Land Bank takes on are more extensive than a typical rehabilitation project, because the majority of properties that we acquire have been abandoned for an extended period of time, and long-forgotten by the private market. The expertise of the Land Bank’s contracting network, and investment partners, are a key component of our success in taking on the myriad problems that vacant and abandoned properties present. The end result is a lot of hard work, new housing opportunities where they didn’t exist before, and new taxable value being put to productive use.
